Members of Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga SC) have re-elected Engineer Hersi Ally Said as club president for another four-year term, extending the leadership that has overseen a period of sustained success on and off the pitch.
The decision was made during the club's General Assembly, where members also approved a TZS 36.01 billion budget for the 2026/27 season.
Addressing delegates, Hersi thanked members and stakeholders for their support and pledged to continue strengthening the club's sporting and institutional foundations.
The assembly was attended by Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila, Minerals Minister Anthony Mavunde, former Cabinet minister George Mkuchika and other leaders.
Highlighting achievements during his first term, Hersi said Yanga won 16 trophies in domestic and international competitions over the past four years, including four Mainland Premier League titles.
He noted that the club had also established a record of five consecutive league championships, including one title won while he served as vice-chairman of the club's competitions committee.
According to Hersi, Yanga played 120 league matches during the four-year period, winning 101, drawing 12 and losing only seven.
The club collected 315 points, scored 286 goals and conceded 51, resulting in a goal difference of 235.
In the CRDB Federation Cup, Yanga secured four consecutive titles and remained largely dominant, losing only one match in a five-year period. During that run, the team scored 86 goals, conceded 14 and kept 20 clean sheets.
The club also won four Community Shield titles and enjoyed success in international invitational tournaments.
Yanga lifted South Africa's Toyota Cup after defeating Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 and later won Rwanda's Rayon Day Cup with a 3-1 victory over Rayon Sports.
Meanwhile, Finance Director Justina Ernest presented the club's financial report for the 2025/26 season, showing that Yanga generated total revenue of TZS 29.36 billion.
Expenditure reached TZS 29.34 billion, with major costs attributed to player salaries and benefits, player recruitment and transfers, match preparations, travel, accommodation and other operational expenses.
The club closed the financial year with a surplus of TZS 17.5 million.
For the 2026/27 season, Yanga projects revenue of TZS 20.70 billion against planned expenditure of TZS 36.01 billion, reflecting the club's ambition to maintain competitiveness in domestic and continental competitions.
The approval of the budget and Hersi's re-election underscore members' confidence in the current leadership as the club seeks to build on recent achievements and strengthen its position among Africa's leading football clubs.
